Battle of Sayler's Creek(1865)
In this photo, Robert E Lee and his Army of Northern Virginia are shown battling Sheridan's Calvary and the Yankee infantry. A couple days prior to this photo, the Army of Northern Virginia had evacuated from the battles of Petersburg and fled west while looking for supplies and food. The men were exhausted and hungry and this battle slowed them from getting to their final destination.

Red River War of 1874 (1874)
This is a photo of the Comanche tribe relocating along with the Kiowa, Southern Cheyenne, and Arapaho Native American tribes after the Red River War. The Red River War was a military campaign organized by the Americans. It's goal was to force the natives to relocate to reservations but natives did not want to relocate so they retaliated resulting in the Red River War.

Battle of Little Bighorn (1876)
During westward expansion, there were many wars between the Natives and the U.S and they were often fighting over land. The Battle of Little Bighorn was just another battle between the U.S and Natives regarding land. The U.S won the majority of these battles but in this case, the Natives won and upset the U.S. This was a devastating loss for the U.S.

Victorio's War (1879)
This is a photo of the U.S military trying to track down Victorio who was the chief of the Apache Army. Victorio and his army had set out the battle against the U.S in Alma, Mexico. Even though the U.S won this battle, it was the beginning of the Alma Massacre and was like a chain reaction because it started many other battles.

This is a photo of an Apache warrior before the Battle of Carrizo Canyon. The U.S was led by Sergeant George Jordan who had commanded at the Battle of Fort Tularosa a year earlier. In the Battle of Carrizo Canyon, the U.S had been surrounded by the Apache and forced into a canyon but still came out with an impressive victory over the Natives.
